I Thought I’d Feel Ready By Now

For a long time, I thought confidence meant having no doubts, no fear, and always knowing the right next step.

I also thought confidence would naturally come once I completed my coaching certification.

Like somehow, having the “proof” would finally make me feel fully ready to call myself a coach.

But when I actually started sharing this part of myself publicly, especially with people who already knew me from my corporate career, I still felt uncomfortable.

I still overthought things.

What if people judge me?
What if they don’t take me seriously?
What if I’m not experienced enough yet?

And slowly I realized something important: confidence was never going to magically appear first.

The step had to come before the feeling.

I think many people spend years trying to become more confident, while actually craving something much deeper: trust in themselves.

Because confidence often depends on circumstances:

* achievements
* validation
* titles
* certifications
* certainty

But self-trust is quieter.

It’s the ability to stay connected to yourself even when life feels unclear or vulnerable.

Sometimes self-trust looks like:

* starting something before feeling fully ready
* allowing yourself to be seen differently
* making decisions others may not fully understand
* trying something new despite fear
* showing up authentically even when it feels uncomfortable

Small moments.
But they slowly change the relationship we have with ourselves.

And maybe real confidence is not about becoming fearless.

Maybe it’s simply learning not to abandon yourself every time fear appears.
