It’s not always obvious. Sometimes, there’s no dramatic moment of realisation - just a quiet feeling that something isn’t quite right.
It builds slowly. Maybe you push it aside, telling yourself you should be grateful for what you have. Maybe these are just the usual ups and downs everyone experiences? But deep down, you don’t want to feel this way. You want more.
It can be hard to recognise when your job or career is no longer the right fit. But when you’ve outgrown your role or it’s not aligned with what matters to you anymore, it can show up in ways like:
• You don’t feel like you’re making an impact - your work no longer feels meaningful, and you wonder if what you do really matters.
• Your job is affecting your personal life - you’re drained, stressed, or finding it harder to switch off after your day. Maybe your relationships, health, or happiness are taking a hit.
• You feel stuck or bored - your work has become a routine, and you no longer feel challenged or excited by what you do.
• Your values or goals have shifted - what felt right a few years ago doesn’t align with what you want now.
• Your body is telling you something - headaches, tension, exhaustion… stress has a way of showing up physically when something is off.
• Intense Sunday Scaries - I know we all love weekends, but this isn’t just a simple “Ugh, Monday” moment. It’s a real sense of dread that creeps in every week as the weekend comes to an end.
If any of these sound familiar, there’s no need to panic. You don’t have to make a big decision overnight. But it is a sign to pause and check in with yourself. What’s really behind these feelings? What’s changed? What would need to shift for you to feel more fulfilled in your career?
Change can be scary, but recognising that something needs to shift is the first step.
We don’t always have the space to reflect on this in our daily lives - so if you’d like to think it through in a more structured and supportive way, drop me a message or book a free consultation here - https://calendar.app.google/CdngFB2rfb7SaN1E9 .
