One of the most important keys to resilience during tough times is to control your emotions. It’s very easy to get swept away by what’s happening and slip into negative thoughts.
Learning with neuroscience, I’ve learnt that when we think, chemicals are fired in our brains and they make us feel, if we keep thinking we keep firing and we stay in the state we are thinking about and keep feeling; not so good.
So, if we are thinking negatively, we stay in that state, however, with some effort, we can change those patterns by thinking of something else, something positive.
The next time you are stuck in traffic, or someone cuts you up driving, think of something that makes you feel happy: for me it’s my family or our pooch!
