About Me

Before I was a coach, I was a barrister for eleven years, then an academic researching land, forests and rights across three continents - from women's land rights in Tanzania to the rights of Indigenous Peoples and forests in Ecuador, to ancient woodlands in the UK. I've written books, edited an anthology, and made a podcast, all exploring how people and living landscapes shape each other.

In 2025 I moved from academia to work more directly with the questions I'd spent years researching on people, place and nature connection. I've since moved into the conservation sector myself, working on advocacy for people-nature relationships. Alongside that, I trained as a transformative coach with Animas Centre for Coaching, and now work mainly with people in law, education, research, conservation and related fields who are rethinking their career or working life, or who are in other kinds of life transition. I understand from personal experience what it means to take a leap of faith towards a new professional identity or life change, often coinciding with other significant life events.

I coach online, and in person and outdoors along the Gower coast in Wales, including walking sessions for anyone who thinks better on the move. Outside work I'm usually on the coast path, dancing or playing flute. I trained in music as well as law and anthropology, and flute-playing and a long-running love of Argentine tango are still very much part of my life.

I'm currently offering three free coaching sessions per client as I complete my training hours.

Specialism

I work with people moving through significant career and life transitions, particularly those leaving or transitioning into law, education and research, conservation or other institutional careers, and rebuilding a sense of identity and purpose beyond a job title.

You might recognise some of this:

- You've left, or are seriously weighing leaving, a role or institution or profession that shaped your identity for years
- You're facing burnout or disillusionment after years in a demanding professional field
- You're early in your career and want to make deliberate choices about your path
- You think and process best outdoors, or you're drawn to nature as part of how you reflect
- You want a coach who's actually lived the kind of professional life you're trying to step in to or out of, not just studied it

My own path from the Bar, through a PhD and years of research on land, law and human-nature relationships, into the conservation sector, and now to coaching, means I understand what it takes to step away from a long-built career and find a different way of life and working. I bring nature connection into sessions where it's useful, including outdoor and walking-based coaching on the Gower coast.
