This is not meant to make your aspirations come true, but your adult children’s.
Although youth offers time, realisation takes care extended over years. As a parent, you may know that procrastination does not rhyme with exploration, yet the steps along the path are theirs to take.
They may be facing decisions in education or work: choosing a course, seeking opportunities, or moving abroad. I have faced and solved these problems myself first, and later helped dozens of students and younger colleagues do the same. This experience is grounded in a decade of theoretical physics research across five countries, followed by years in London’s financial district.
The neighbourhood can expand to the city, school achievements can become a passion, and passions an obsession. This leads to better-paid opportunities and social circles that align with their fulfilled selves. Recent clients (through a third-party non-profit) include a graduate brainstorming business ideas, and a candidate building self-esteem through factual accomplishments, moving from a year of unsuccessful interviews to positive feedback and two PhD offers. They are featured on my LinkedIn. Our sessions prioritise a long-term relationship over quick wins: developing a firm mindset and leaving clients with resources to move forward independently. It extends beyond the sessions: for example, checking in with a former client and connecting him with a journal to become a reviewer.
I work with those committed and motivated. Saying yes or changing their mind is not within the scope. My endeavour is to provide honest feedback, highlight incongruences, and hold them accountable for decision-making and performance.
If this all sounds like a long shot for your young adults at home, it is nothing to worry about. I will guide them through the first steps, until they realise they are walking on their own.
Undergraduates, graduates, PhD students, and young professionals, including those from non-STEM disciplines, typically aged 20–30. Anyone over 18 who is committed and motivated is welcome.
