About Me

Hello!

My name's Sean and I'm a business coach with a strategic approach to career-, business-, and project-building. Until recently, I worked for the UK's highest-rated business coaching brand, SEVEN, helping people create the life and the career they truly wanted.

If you have a second, feel free to email me. Tell me about your ambitions? What's getting in the way? I'll be more than happy to get back to you to see if I can help.

My experience

I'm 37 now, but throughout my 20s I struggled to forge any sense of direction in my life and career, and I experienced immense anxiety about this. It was coaching that finally helped me move forward.

In 2014, whilst being coached, I realised I wanted to work with people, to help in some way.

Shortly after, I began hosting small mental health support groups. Then a public speaking practice. Then larger groups. Writing workshops. Huge social events. In 2015, I built a creative writing community in London in alignment with my passion. More recently, I built a professional training enterprise, with which I regularly deal with people from all around the world.

Since I'm now qualified as a coach myself, I like to make use of models from the therapeutic space alongside strategic planning models and personal branding exercises, to help other people explore their sense of career and life purpose.

My experience with mental health means I'm also incredibly open-minded and empathetic, and I love helping people who are struggling to forge a path forward in life, career, business, or creativity.

My Ideal Client

I work with a huge variety of people: mums, dads, students, painters, speakers, publishers, CEOs, retail workers, bar staff, consultants, artists, writers, videographers, public speakers, poets, people out of work, people in business, in the charity sector.

My only ask is that you're somebody who is willing to make a profound change in your life, to work with me to begin constructing something meaningful and exciting.

How I do it

I like to use a combination of one-to-one verbal coaching/conversation, strategic planning models, forms, questionnaires, personality tests, and other written exercises.

My principle concern, however, is checking in with you about how you think we can work best together. If you're looking for conversational support, this is what we'll focus on. If you're looking for a sounding board, someone to brainstorm with, we can do this as well. And if you're somebody who likes to come away with something more tangible - some written evidence, a plan of action, SMART goals, and blueprints for personal or business projects - then I'll be more than happy to help you produce this, as well.

I'm here and qualified to help with any/all of the following:

- Business coaching
- Life coaching
- Relationships (business or personal)
- Confidence building
- Self-esteem
- Anxiety
- Public speaking fear
- CV writing
- Cover letter writing
- Mission statements
- Copywriting
- Creative writing
- Creative brainstorming
- Team building
- Project building
- Project management
- Career change / transferable skills
- Personal narrative building

My offer

If you think you'd benefit from career, life, or writing coaching, I'm more than happy to offer you either a FREE 1.5 hour coaching session, or 2 x FREE 40-minute sessions, online.

All the sessions I offer are 100% confidential, there for you to use in your own time, to begin outlining an ambitious plan for truly radical change in your life, career, or creativity.

What do other people come to coaching for?

People come to coaching sessions with their own unique experience(s). So I'm always interested in the fine details of your experience.

That said, some of the most common issues people need coaching for are: anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, procrastination, fear of failure, relationship or family issues, a difficult friendship, career progression, lacking a sense of purpose, wanting to undertake an artistic project, excessive technology usage, lack of routine, goal-setting, financial ambitions, conflict management, etc.

What to do now

If you like, you can email me straight away and tell me - in a sentence or two - what you're struggling with or what you'd like to achieve, and I'll get back to you to let you know how if I think I can help: help@definingchapter.com

Bonus Offering

As a professional writer, I also offer mentorship in written skills, to help you with anything from CVs to poems, from manifestos to marketing emails, from brand slogans to short stories, from screenplays to novels.

As a copywriter, my clients have included publishers, political institutes, educational platforms, Thai food restaurants, shoe manufacturers, voucher companies, etc., etc., etc.

My professional writing qualifications include a 1st Class BA in Creative Writing from Kent University, a Diploma in Screenwriting with MetFilm/Ealing Studios, the completion of a 6-month screenwriter training with ScriptWriters and Co., and the completion of a 6-month training as a novel writer with Curtis Brown Literary Agency. I have been teaching creative and therapeutic writing workshops for 8+ years.

What other people say about me

TESTIMONIALS:

“I came to Sean as I was feeling overwhelmed with the sheer number of creative projects I wanted to do, all at once - I felt scattered and had trouble focusing on any one thing for long enough to progress. They helped me define my main goals, work out the source of my chronic procrastination, and as result I have already started taking action, achieving small goals that are stepping stones to the larger ones. Working with Sean has helped me find the clarity and confidence that I need to progress after years of feeling stuck.”

Catherine (videographer)

“Sean coached me through a creative project that helped me to re-assess the direction of my life at a time when I was undecided just where I was going. In terms of outcomes it proved to be a turning point in my life which would never have come about without his compassionate, professional input.”

Michael Giddings (consultant)

“I have worked with Sean on two different occasions. Both times, Sean supported me with knowledge, clarity, kindness, and the right dose of humor. With his coaching, I was able to solve inner and outer conflict, rethink my approach to technology and writing, and restructure my working life, which improved my performance immensely. I highly recommend working with them.”

“I’ve worked with Sean on several occasions, and continue to do so. His quick, intuitive mind and strong, yet gentle presence have helped me achieve clarity and insights I don’t think I’d have got to so quickly on my own (if at all!). I know Sean as a writer, too, and when he applies his strong narrative instinct to formulating exactly the right coaching question for you at just the right moment, the results can be very powerful, helping you get over hurdles in your Hero’s Journey you didn’t even know were there…”
