About Me

Hi! My name is Gabi. I’m both an academic and vocational coach and professor in the Humanities who helps struggling students at all levels reach their academic and personal goals. In addition, I support young professionals through career transitions. I strongly believe in the power of imagination and creativity when it comes to finding new ways of tackling a challenge or re-occurring problem. I have twenty years of experience in mentoring and advising and cannot imagine life without constant learning and growing.

I’ve lived through three major vocational transitions myself over the years. I explored every major possible, from horticulture to journalism to Japanese, before I found myself. I studied abroad in universities in Japan, Denmark, and the United States. And during my doctorate, I struggled deciding whether I could find a home in academia.

These experiences are the roots of my passions and my research: helping students through academic challenges, finding their true vocations, supporting wellness, navigating intercultural differences, home and belonging. You can check out my website to learn more: I also LOVE comics and use comics and graphic novels as important tools in my coaching sessions.

Although I’ve lived in the US for 20 years, I’m still a German at heart. I enjoy reading good books, running in nature, crocheting toys for my two sons, experimenting in the kitchen, and trying out new hikes with my family.

I look forward to meeting you!

Academic and vocational coaching for students at all levels: Working with young adults is deeply rewarding because I know what it’s like to struggle academically. In addition, I regularly teach university courses on vocational development focusing on defining purpose, career options, and networking. My coaching will support you on your journey toward academic success, purpose, happiness, and fulfillment.

Intercultural coaching for study abroad: Studying abroad is daunting on so many levels: language barriers, cultural differences, finding programs, application difficulties, financial planning, to name a few. As someone who has studied abroad three times, I can coach you through these challenges.

Transition coaching for young professionals: Transitioning from an existing career into something new is a challenging endeavor. I can help you see possibilities, recognize strengths, and plan for a fulfilling, sustainable career.
