by Zahara MatovuWhen were you last grateful for something? It's unbeliveable how most people underrate being grateful for the big things, but most especially, the small things we over look.
Being grateful is the door that opens a lot of great opportunities. Gratefulness is not just a spiritual action, but also great for your mental health.
Try being grateful for the non monetary things first thing in the morning, right after waking up, for example, 'I am grateful for waking up alive, for the air you breath, for your health, your family and friends and so on'. You'll notice how just this simple action changes the feel right at the start of your day. You'll feel happier, more positive and satisfied.
If you really want to change your overall wellbeing, start practicing gratitude for everything. For the monetary things too like your job, being able to provide for your family, never going a day without food, for the roof on your head, etc
Being grateful should also be genuine. Believe it, say it and mean it. We muslims say 'Alhamdulillah' so much that with time it becomes more casual, so we should also stay consciuos to the real meaning of being grateful.
If you want to gain more in this world, just be grateful for the little things you have now. Those who are grateful know this unspoken rule.
